Raila is CORD’s best bet– Ruth Odinga

Kisumu Deputy Governor Ruth Adhiambo Odinga has told off leaders eyeing the CORD coalition presidential ticket, saying ODM leader, Raila Odinga is the best candidate.

Speaking at a Mandeleo Ya Wanawake fundraiser in Siaya, Ms Odinga said that the Opposition’s best bet at winning the 2017 lies with selecting a candidate that can marshal massive support across the country.

“Lets be realistic, you can not tell me that you want to be the president while when we go to North Eastern (Kenya) no one knows you,” said the deputy governor.

With less than 10 months to the General Election, CORD is yet to select a flag bearer. All three co-principals have declared their interest in the top seat, with Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Ford Kenya’s Moses Wetangula both arguing that they deserve to be on the ballot paper come 2017.

Addressing the leadership tussle, Ms Odinga – who is Raila’s younger sister – said that the ODM leader is the ideal candidate.

“The only person who is capable and is qualified to become the president of Kenya come 2017 is Raila Amollo Odinga,” Added Ruth Odinga.

Ms Odinga was accompanied at the event by Siaya County Women Representative, Dr. Christine Ombaka, and Former Permanent Secretary for gender Prof. Jackline Odual among other dignitaries.

Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka and Moses Wetangula have all being endorsed as presidential candidates by their parties. The three Opposition leaders have recently embarked on missions to popularise their individual parties across the nation.
