Raila is in good health, adviser says

National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential candidate Raila Odinga is in good health following a scare on Sunday evening when he was rushed to Mombasa Hospital with suspected food poisoning.

Odinga’s adviser Salim Lone said the opposition leader “is doing very well this morning” and is set to brief the public on the NASA presidential candidate’s recovery.

The ODM party leader was taken ill on Sunday evening while at the Mombasa Airport waiting to take a flight back to Nairobi following a series of rallies in Kilifi County.

Odinga was in the company of his NASA co-principals Kalonzo Musyoka, Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula as well as Senator James Orengo who advised him to have a doctor examine him rather than travel.

News of hospitalization of Odinga spread quickly putting opposition supporters on edge with many in Mombasa including Governor Hassan Joho and Mvita MP Abdulswamad Nassir rushing to the Mombasa Hospital. Opposition supporters milled outside the hospital waiting with bated breathe for news from the hospital.

Upon examination, the NASA candidate was discharged after doctors established there was no cause for alarm with Odinga telling the public that he had been dehydrated and that he was okay.
