Raila laughs off IPSOS poll on his political future

CORD leader Raila Odinga has launched a scathing attack on IPSOS market research firm following the recent release of polls that showed a majority of Kenyans want him to quit politics, saying the poll was tailored to serve the interests of the Jubilee Government.

The polls released last month showed that 42 per cent of Kenyans want Raila to quit active politics while 25 per cent think he should continue.

In a swift response to the findings, the Orange Democratic Movement leader stated that the poll was propaganda instigated by Jubilee to downgrade his popularity among Kenyans ahead of the 2017 General Election.

The CORD leader further questioned the credibility of IPSOS polls claiming that the firm conducts its research in areas where Jubilee has strong support.

He advised the research firm to shift focus from candidates who will run for presidency in the next election and instead centre their research on the popularity and support base of the presidential contender.

Raila made the remarks during a service at St. Peters ACK Nyamira Parish in Bondo Constituency during the New Year celebrations.

The CORD leader also rubbished calls by Deputy President William Ruto for CORD to form one party saying the coalition has its own plan for 2017.

He warned Jubilee leaders against poking their noses into the affairs of CORD saying the coalition would not take advice from them.

Several members of the coalition have also aired their disapproval of the polls, with Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama observing that Raila is the most popular presidential candidate.

He stated that Raila’s popularity is apparent, with his rallies countrywide pulling massive crowds.

Busia Senator Amos Wako has also come out in opposition of the polls saying the research questions used are dubious.
