Raila maintains Uhuru mobilizing KDF to rig August polls

The National Supper Alliance (NASA) Presidential candidate, Raila Odinga, has maintained that President Uhuru Kenyatta is in the verge of rigging the August 8 General Election.

Raila said there is increased mobilization of the military forces in favor of President Kenyatta’s political outfit.

Similar claims were raised by the NASA flag bearer a month ago where he questioned the Head of State for recruiting and training some members of the military and police to work as Jubilee agents.

“Uhuru is marshaling all armed forces to deal with challenges which only he knows. There are a full-scale mobilization and training of the Police and the Army at a scale that only exists in dictatorships where the Constitution is overthrown and the President rules by force,” Raila said.

The opposition leader said the move is unconstitutional and dangerous to the state.

He warned that despite raising the alarm a month ago, little had been done by the government. He added that this was violating the code of conducts of police as well as tainting their image.

The NASA leader also alleged that President Kenyatta appears to be preparing to reject election results because he now knows he will lose. He emphasized the need for free, fair and credible polls.

“Our military is sacred. Across the world in the last four decades, our men and women in uniform have been called upon and relied on to defend peace in fractured states and restore democracy,” said Raila.

“It is sacrilegious for Uhuru and Jubilee to attempt to alter our military’s honoured tradition of neutrality in political contests.”

Last month, Raila alleged that security forces were being trained at Embakasi Barracks to help tilt the forthcoming election outcome in favor of Jubilee Party.

These allegations were refuted by Deputy President William who accused the opposition leader for fearing to contest in the coming polls.

Mwenda Njoka, Interior Ministry spokesperson, also dismissed the claims and assured Kenyans that the training was meant to provide security during the August polls.
