Raila, Obama to deliver speeches at Nelson Mandela event

Opposition leader Raila Odinga has left the country for a four-day visit to Johannesburg, South Africa, where he is set to attend the 100th anniversary of Nelson Mandela’s birth.

Odinga, who held talks with Barack Obama at Villa Rosa Kempinski Hotel on Sunday, will once again meet the former US President who is scheduled to grace the South African event.

Obama, who concluded his two-day tour of Kenya on Monday, will set the tone for the celebrations with a speech on Tuesday July 17, 2018.

According to Odinga’s spokesman Dennis Onyango, the former premier will later proceed to Mvezo in the Eastern Cape of South Africa, the birthplace of Nelson Mandela, where he is scheduled to deliver a talk on the life and legacy of the country’s first black president.

He is expected back in Nairobi at the end of the week.
