Raila Odinga defends his fight against corruption

Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) leader Raila Odinga has defended his relentless criticism of the Jubilee administration over graft, this statement coming in the wake of the Afya House Scandal.

Speaking in Nandi on Saturday, the Opposition leader said that his intention is to have a corruption-free country that is united and focused on development.

“What I only want is to see the country united as one, nothing else,” said Raila Odinga.

He also reiterated that he did not fix Deputy President William Ruto at the Hague since they both were in the same camp in 2007.

“Ruto and I were both in ODM in the 2007 and there is no way, therefore, that I would have forwarded his name to the ICC.

“Former President Mwai Kibaki and I pushed for a local tribunal and tabled the motion in parliament but the Bunge MPs rejected our motion claiming they want an international hearing of the cases,” said the former Prime Minister.

Raila Odinga recently raised alarm over the numerous scandals from the government, and accused President Uhuru Kenyatta of housing corrupt individuals behind his government.

“The county is in shambles because of corruption and it is the absolute truth,” added Raila.

Jubilee MPs have criticised the Opposition leader, saying the graft allegation Raila has leveled against the government are borne out of malice.
