Raila Odinga Jets Back Into The Country

In anticipation of his return, his supporters made preparations to welcome him at Nairobi’s Uhuru Park where together with other Cord leaders he will address them.

Song and dance filled the air as Cord leader Odinga’s followers were seen in large numbers making their way to Uhuru Park where a welcoming ceremony has been prepared for the former Prime Minister.

Odinga is expected at the Jomo Kenyatta International airport this afternoon and will then make his way to Uhuru Park, where he and other opposition cord leaders are expected to announce new measures they will take to keep jubilee government in check.

Cord alliance supporters started flowing into the park early Saturday morning even as some of them poured onto the city streets in chants and celebration as they wait.

Elsewhere in the city, a number of Odinga’s diehard supporters spent the night at kamukunji stadium in Kibera strategizing on how best to welcome their leader and former area member of parliament.

Security personnel are on standby to ensure peace is maintained, even as the Cord luminary in a statement sent to newsrooms on Friday asked his enthusiasts to welcome him in a peaceful manner while respecting the rights of others who will not attend.
