Raila Odinga to begin four-day tour of Coastal region

CORD leader Raila Odinga will be heading to the coast region for a four-day tour in a bid to marshal support ahead of the 2017 General Election.

The tour, slated for Wednesday to Saturday, will cover Taita Taveta, Kwale and Tana River Counties with the Orange Democracy Movement (ODM) leader addressing the Law Society of Kenya Annual Conference in between the tour.

On the first day of the tour, Raila will meet ODM leaders other community-based grassroots leaders from various sectors in Taita Taveta before addressing a public rally thereafter.

From Taveta, Mr Odinga will proceed to Kwale on Thursday where he will hold meetings and public rallies in Ukunda, Lunga Lunga and Kaloleni areas.

He will address the Law Society of Kenya Annual Conference on Friday before heading to Tana River on Saturday where he is scheduled to hold meetings with local ODM and community leaders in Galole, Hola and Garsen.

He tour comes just a month after the ODM leader held a five-day tour of Western, traversing the counties of Vihiga, Busia and Kakamega.

It is expected that Raila will be carrying a similar message to that which he delivered during his tour of Western, that of unity and support, with a special call to the people of Coast region to unite behind ODM and ahead of the next polls.

The region has proved a new battle ground for votes with both CORD and Jubilee making inroads in a bid to woo voters ahead of the 2017 General Election.
