Raila Odinga to name individuals removed from EACC list of shame

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga now says he will release names of individuals involved in graft that were allegedly removed from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) list tabled in Parliament by President Uhuru Kenyatta two months ago.

Mr Odinga alleged that the list tabled by the President was highly edited to hide faces of those involved in mega scams in the country.

“In a week’s time I will name all those who were removed from the EACC list that was tabled by the President in parliament,” said Odinga.

He said that most of the individuals scrapped from the list are well known and have been mentioned in several other allegations.

He said that the Jubilee administration was not serious in the war against graft and what it was doing was pure Public Relations.

“The President and his administration are not serious about fighting graft in this country. The list tabled in Parliament and the comments being made are just pure PR.”

Odinga criticised President Kenyatta of being dishonest in the war against graft saying that it has been happening under his watch.

“What we are seeing happening at the National Youth Service (NYS) is a clear indication that the Jubilee government is not ready or committed in the war against graft,” he added.

“Why can money be lost yet CS Anne Waiguru, who is in charge of the NYS, is still in office?”

Mr Odinga said that the war on graft cannot be won when individuals are being shielded by those in positions of power.

The EACC list was tabled in Parliament by the Head of State during his State of the Nation Address and has since elicited a lot of reactions from across the political divide.

The list has seen at least five Cabinet Secretaries including Eng. Michael Kamau (Transport and Infrastructure), Charity Ngilu (Lands), Felix Koskei (Agriculture), Kambi Kazungu (Labour) and Davis Chirchir (Energy) step aside to pave way for investigations.

Odinga was speaking during an interview on NTV on Sunday night.
