Raila pitches camp in Uhurus Kiambu stronghold

The National Super Alliance (NASA) Presidential candidate, Raila Odinga, has assured Kiambu residents that he will ensure that roads are constructed in the County and other neglected areas if elected on August 8.

Raila allayed fears that he is an enemy of the Kikuyu community citing his support for former President Mwai Kibaki in the 2002 General Election adding that he pushed for the tarmacking of roads in Kiambu during his tenure as Prime Minister in the Grand Coalition government.

“There has been a lot of propaganda that I am an enemy of Kikuyus; that information is false and I am here to put an end to that narrative. In 2002 I campaigned for Kibaki knowing too well that he was a Kikuyu and at the time Uhuru was opposing Kibaki’s candidature,” Raila said.

The opposition leader said that a NASA government will improve and expand Githunguri Dairy Farmers Cooperative Society which will in turn employ a lot of young people.

Kiambu residents welcomed the former premiere in President Kenyatta’s home turf.

“The cost of living is high for all Kenyans and the problems we face as a country affect all communities, I want us to work to together to build a better country, Jubilee has failed to deliver on its key electoral pledges,” Raila said.

His sentiments were echoed by his fellow NASA co-principal, Musalia Mudavadi, who said that his coalition is interested in uniting the country adding that Jubilee has failed to tackle youth unemployment.

“Jubilee has failed to solve the unemployment problem affecting the youth and has instead increased the national debt, I can forgive Uhuru Kenyatta but Ruto has messed this country,” Mudavadi said.

Raila Odinga was accompanied by Musalia Mudavadi (ANC), ODM Nairobi Women Representative candidate, Esther Passaris, and Mr Koigi Wamwere.
