Raila reads riot act to Kisumu MCAs over assembly chaos

Opposition leader Raila Odinga on Sunday held a closed-door meeting with Kisumu Members of County Assembly (MCAs) over the recent leadership wrangles that have rocked the county assembly.

During the meeting, Odinga is said to have read the riot act to the Kisumu MCAs, urging them to desist from the chaotic scenes which he said were tarnishing his image as the party leader.

A source at the meeting confided to Citizen Digital that Mr. Odinga directed the Assembly Speaker Onyago Oloo to bring sanity to the assembly and table a comprehensive report after one year on the status of the House.

Odinga asked the county lawmakers to engage in sober debates, further imploring them to make use of internal channels of resolving their disputes through the House leadership.

During the meeting, Kisumu County ODM Chairman Ayiecho Olweny tabled a report that reportedly put Speaker Onyango Oloo on the spot over his management skills in the Assembly.

Other local leaders including Nyakach MP Aduma Owuor and Luo community elders led by Odungi Randa vehemently castigated the speaker.

Odinga was accompanied by Kisumu Deputy Governor Matthew Owili, Nyakach Member of Parliament Adua Owuor and Nyando legislator Jared Okello.

Two weeks ago, dramatic scenes were witnessed at the Kisumu County Assembly after MCAs attempted to rough up the Chief Sergeant-at-arms George Amayo.
