Raila refutes reports that DCI seeking him over Range Rover

Opposition leader Raila Odinga has dismissed allegations that one of his cars is among top-of-the-range vehicles impounded by detectives over fraudulent registration claims.

Reports published in a local daily claimed that a Range Rover linked to Mr. Odinga was among 444 vehicles seized by Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) as investigations continue.

However, Mr. Odinga, through his spokesperson Dennis Onyango, rubbished the report saying he has never owned a Range Rover.

“In the story, the Standard reported that Mr. Odinga is being sought by DCI for what amounts to tax evasion and fraud. Mr. Odinga has never ever owned a Range Rover vehicle,” said Odinga’s aide in a statement to newsrooms.

He added: “This weird story is a continuation of an agenda of misinformation about Mr. Odinga that the paper started on 16th September 2019 when it claimed that a furious Mr Odinga had pressed top ODM officials to explain mistakes in the party voters’ register that marred Kibra by-election nominations.”

The former premier said he had began legal action against the newspaper.
