Raila rubbishes Namwamba’s call for Luhya unity

ODM leader Raila Odinga has questioned the party’s former Secretary General Ababu Namwamba’s development record as Budalang’i Member of Parliament.

Addressing residents of Budalang’i at Lunyofu on Wednesday, Odinga said unlike Namwamba, he had initiated road projects and electrification programs in the area during his time as Prime Minister in the Grand Coalition government.

“There is a lot that I did for the people of this area during my time as Prime Minister and it is shocking that someone can claim I have done nothing. The question should be, what has he done?” he questioned.

The ODM leader further rubbished the calls for Luhya unity saying they are baseless campaign to divide the region.

He said: “Now they have labeled Western region as Mulembe Nation. That is nonsensical. It is all part of a scheme to divide the region.”

“This is a practice that was perfected during the colonial era to prevent Kenyans from uniting and in doing so the opponents of development intend to achieve their own selfish goals.”

Odinga further faulted President Uhuru Kenyatta for neglecting fishermen who are being harassment by the Ugandan government in Migingo, saying his government would seek a solution to the issue.

The CORD leader will on Thursday hold two roadside addresses at Adungosi and Ang’orai before holding two rallies at Malaba and Samba Chai.

He completes his week-long tour of Western on Friday in Kakamega.
