Raila slams Duale for calling him a ghost worker

Opposition chief, Raila Odinga, has slammed National Assembly Majority Leader, Aden Duale, for alleging that he receives monthly pay from governors affiliated to the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD).

Duale had on Wednesday, November 23 claimed that Odinga was a beneficiary of stolen monies from the counties alleging that he received millions of shillings from governors from ‘CORD-ed’ counties.

Duale went ahead to claim that Odinga’s trips to counties and other parts of the world are financed by the Governors, claims Odinga terms as ‘stupid and uncalled for’.

During the swearing-in of Tanzania President, John Joseph Pombe Magufuli, Odinga travelled with his wife to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania for the historic occasion having been a friend of the Magufuli’s for years. Deale alleged that this trip was financed to a tune of Ksh 20 million by one of the CORD governors.

“I can confirm that during Raila’s recent visit to Wajir and Garissa counties, the choppers were paid for by the governors, and I have evidence to prove it.”

“Raila must refund the millions he has received as allowances, stipends, pocket money and hotel fees,” added Duale, terming Raila as a ghost worker.

On Thursday, November 24 during a presser at his Capitol Hill office, Odinga refused to respond to Duale’s allegations saying that they are non on the same level and he would not waste time responding to such ‘nonsense’.

Odinga termed Duale’s remarks as reckless.

Mimi sio rika ya Duale. Siwezi kujibu hayo maneno yake ya upuzi na ujinga mtupu (I am not Duale’s age-mate. I cannot respond to his remarks since they are nonsensical and stupid),” said Odinga.

On Friday, November 25, Odinga denied the claims that his bills were being catered for by the counties.

Mwengine anaitwa Duale, ati Raila amelipiwa tikiti ya ndege, alilala kwa hoteli, kumbafu (Another one called Duale now alleges that my air tickets are paid for as well as hotels, nonsense),” said Odinga.

Eti nililipiwa million ishirini kwenda kwa Magufuli. Mimi nikienda na bibi yangu siwezi lipa? Kwani mimi ni fukara? (He alleges that I was given Ksh 20 million to attend Magufuli’s inauguration. When I travel with my wife, can’t I foot my bills? I’m I a beggar?),” queried Odinga.

He said that on matters of corruption, Kenyans know the real thieves and CORD will continue unearthing cases of public resources misappropriation until the government acts.

He added that the opposition will continue ‘eating vegetables as it is not interested meat that is being eaten by Jubilee that has already suffered from gout.”
