Raila was wrong in naming Eurobond suspects Kanini Kega

Kieni MP Kanini Kega has condemned CORD leader Raila Odinga for publicly naming the alleged Eurobond saga suspects.

Speaking in an interview on Tuesday morning, Kanini noted that the move was ill advised, noting that if the opposition was genuine in their findings they should have instead forwarded the names to the relevant agencies mandated to fight graft.

He urged Raila to shed more light on the alleged scam when he appears before the National Assembly’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) this week.

Kanini also dismissed criticism by the opposition that President Uhuru Kenyatta is on a vote-hunting mission at the coastal region instead of being in Nairobi to receive the bodies of the fallen soldiers and to mourn with Kenyans, saying it was untrue.

On Saturday, PAC chair Nicholas Gumbo said his committee would summon the eight people named by Mr Odinga as culprits in the alleged loss of billions of shillings from the Eurobond government loan.

Gumbo said PAC also welcomes any member of the public who has information that might help unravel the alleged Eurobond scam, which the government insists is non-existent.

Gumbo’s sentiments came just days after Raila named National Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich, Treasury Principal Secretary Kamau Thuge, Head of Public Service Joseph Kinyua and top Central Bank officials among eight top civil servants that he linked to the Eurobond saga.

Odinga wanted the top civil servants linked to the Eurobond scam to resign immediately and face prosecution.
