Railas fight against corruption insincere, MPs claim

A section of Nyandarua County leaders led by Women Representative Wanjiku Muhia and Ol-Kalou MP David Njuguna Kiaraho have rubbished CORD Leader Raila Odinga’s fight against graft saying he is insincere.

The legislators said that Mr Odinga’s intention was to tarnish the government’s image in a bid to gain mileage ahead of the 2017 General Election.

“If there is corruption let us have the people involved investigated, and give them time to do their investigations and give us the report,” said Wanjiku Muhia.

The leaders warned that the matter should not be politicised, but observed that it was wrong for senior government officials to be involved in corruption.

The MPs regretted that billions of shillings had being lost to corruption, but noted that it was not right to politicize the issue.

The leaders were speaking at Bosnia Village in Ol Kalou during the burial of Mary Mumbi, mother to Rurii Ward MCA Wahome Kamoche.

Their sentiments come at a time when the Jubilee administration is under sharp criticism from citizens and the opposition over rampant corruption that has seen close to Ksh1 trillion, equivalent to a year’s budget, lost to few corrupt individuals.

The latest scandal to rock this administration came to light barely two weeks ago when Business Daily detailed the loss of Ksh5.3 billion in a scam at the Health ministry.

This emerged even as the Parliamentary Accounts Committee continues to grill suspects in the Ksh1.67 billion scam at the Devolution Ministry.
