Raila’s push for changes in governance

Opposition Chief Raila Odinga has maintained that he will continue with his push for constitutional amendments despite President Uhuru Kenyatta’s stand against changes to the supreme law.

Speaking on Friday evening in Mombasa County during Iftar dinner organized by Governor Ali Joho, Odinga defended his bid to have the constitution changed for a better Kenya saying the proposed changes will ensure equity and regional balance in the governance of the country.

Raila has also proposed changes that seek to create a three-tier system of government.

Odinga’s sentiments came only a few hours after the ODM party leader joined President Kenyatta to mark the 55th Madaraka day celebrations at Kinoru stadium in Meru County.

On his part, President Kenyatta continues to pour cold water on calls for amendments to the constitution.

The two leaders have however affirmed their commitment to changing the narrative of hate and suspicion among Kenya’s diverse political and ethnic groups.
