Railas statements reckless and inciting State House

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Thursday, July 13 termed Opposition National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential candidate Raila Odinga’s assertions that he was planning to use the military to rig the August polls as “inciteful and reckless conspiracy that jeopardizes vital public faith in our institutions and democratic processes.”

In a statement to newsrooms, State House Spokesman, Manoah Esipisu, said that the Jubilee Administration is committed to a free, fair, credible and transparent General Election and will accept the results should he lose in the August 8 polls.

The response comes barely two days after NASA leader, Raila Odinga, accused President Uhuru Kenyatta of plotting to rig the election.

In his sentiments, Raila said there is increased mobilization of the military forces in favor of President Kenyatta’s political outfit.

Raila had also raised similar claims a month ago where he questioned the Head of State for recruiting and training some members of the military and police to work as Jubilee agents.

“Uhuru is marshaling all armed forces to deal with challenges which only he knows. There are a full-scale mobilization and training of the Police and the Army at a scale that only exists in dictatorships where the Constitution is overthrown and the President rules by force,” Raila said.

State House has, however, termed this as wild assertions that are intended to wilfully undermine public confidence the country’s democratic system placed to ensure an incident-free, fair, transparent and credible electoral process where the will of Kenyans is exercised.

“We find allegations contrary by his opponents to be mischievous, baseless and absolutely laughable,” read the statement in part.

The NASA leader had  also alleged that President Kenyatta appears to be preparing to reject election results because he now knows he will lose.

State House, however, affirmed that the President has publicly unequivocally committed to accepting the election results.

They further challenged Raila and his NASA brigade to categorically pledge to accept results of the Presidential ballot and also ensure delivery of a peaceful, transparent and timely vote.
