Ranching company director shot dead in Nairobi

Police have confirmed the murder of a director of the controversial Githunguri Ranching Company John Waweru who was allegedly shot dead last night in Zimmerman estate in Nairobi by armed gunmen.

Nairobi police boss Japheth Koome confirmed that Waweru was shot by unknown assailants twice in the chest as he dropped off one of his female employee at her home.

Koome clarified that no one has been arrested in connection to the incident adding that investigations are underway.

Waweru was also a human rights activist working with Workers’ Rights groups.

Cases of businessman being murdered in Nairobi city have risen in the past few years with the latest case being the murder of businessman Paul Kariuki early this year.

Kariuki was shot 15 times in his vehicle while heading home to Waithaka area.

The businessman was ambushed by unknown assailants who sprayed his car with bullets.

According to the police, the attackers did not steal anything from the victims.
