Raphael Tuju accident: Family airlifted to Kijabe hospital

More details have emerged from the early morning accident that left Jubilee Secretary General Raphael Tuju with serious injuries.

According to Central Regional Police boss Patrick Lumumba, at around 6.45a.m on Wednesday, Tuju’s driver swerved to avoid a collision with a lorry but rammed a matatu.

Tuju was reportedly seated on the back left of his Toyota Land Cruiser while his driver rode shotgun on the way to Moi’s burial in Kabarak.

The Police further revealed that Tuju’s driver suffered a fractured hand while the bodyguard has a fractured foot.

They were rushed to Kijabe Mission Hospital.

Initially, there were reports that Tuju was to be airlifted to Nairobi for specialised medical care.

However, Citizen Digital has learnt that the Jubilee SG is in no condition to be moved.

It has also emerged that Tuju sustained serious injuries on the chest and abdomen.

On Wednesday morning at around 9:45am, his family was airlifted from the Wilson Airport to go and be with him at the Kijabe Mission Hospital.

Tuju is said to have been complaining of chest pains and difficulty breathing.

The accident also left the matatu driver in critical condition and he is receiving treatment at the Kijabe Mission Hospital.

Reports further indicate that all the passengers in the matatu also sustained injuries and are admitted to the same hospital.
