Refugee Influx At Nadapal Border, Kenya

Majority of those entering Kenya through the Nadapal border are young children and women.

They say they are forced to walk for more than 50km to come to the border.

The refugees are registered as immigrants in Nadapal then screened by the Medical San Frontiers doctors M.S.F.

Those found to have contagious diseases like measles are isolated and taken Lopiding sub-district hospital.

According to officials from the World Food Program who also provide food to the refugees, the refugees started coming in from the 24th of December 2013.

They receive 400-600 refugees and they transfer them to Kakuma refugee camp.

John Aler, a refugee from Sudan said that the situation is bad in Sudan and he is not sure if his parents are safe because he escaped by crossing River Nile with a boat before he finally walked to the border.

Fighting broke out in south Sudan a month ago. Fallout between the president, and his former deputy with some ethnic elements fighting it on the ground.

The United Nations says 468,000 people have fled their homes because of the fighting, which has spiraled into ethnic killings between members of Kiir's Dinka people – the country's largest group – and Machar's Nuer.
