Register as voters, Kalonzo urges Coast residents

Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka has urged coast residents to turn out and register as voters to enable them vote in large numbers during next year’s General Election.

The former Vice President said that registering as a voter will help save the country from corruption and bad governance that is currently being witnessed.

Kalonzo led a host of other wiper and ODM leaders at a rally in Ukunda, Msambweni Constituency where he accused the Jubilee Government of buying off members from Cord Coalition.

The Wiper leader expressed confidence that CORD is going to win the Malindi by-election and accused Kilifi North MP Gideon Mungaro and Lunga Lunga MP Khatib Mwashetani of betraying the coalition.

He said the recent coastal visit by President Uhuru Kenyatta bore no fruits.

“The president came here and stayed for a month and said that Coast has decamped to Jubilee, we want to tell him he is wrong, Raila and I need only one day,” he said.

Kalonzo lashed out Jubilee’s move to dissolve member parties in a bid to form one party saying it is outdated and undemocratic.

He noted that the move has seen Jubilee lose ground in Rift Valley where it has already lost an MCA seat to Governor Isaac Ruto’s Mashinani Party.

Kalonzo added that Jubilee is staring at a tough defeat by independence party KANU in the Kericho senatorial by-election.

He was accompanied by Mombasa senator Hassan Omar,National Assembly Minority Leader Francis Nyenze,  Lamu County women representative Shakilla Abdallah, Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya, Nyali MP Awiti Bolo, Matuga MP Hassan Mwanyoha, Kitui Central MP Makali Mulu, Nominated MP Zulekha Hassan, Ukunda MCA Omar Kitengele and Bongwe MCA Omar Boga.

The leaders echoed Kalonzo’s sentiments, exuding confidence that CORD will take the country’s leadership, next year.
