Release county funds, governors demand

The chairman of the Council of Governors, Peter Munya, has demanded an immediate release of County funds, which are still being held by the national government.

Speaking in Meru County during the launch of Boresha Afya ya Jamii food fortification, Governor Munya said that devolution is aimed at developing counties and for that reason the government should release the funds.

He added that the national government cannot ensure equality from the main office because it has failed for the last 50 years, but counties are in a better position in handling the situation.

Mr Munya assured residents that the Pesa Mashinani campaign would go on until the National Government remits adequate and equal resources to all counties.

He expressed optimism that if the national government remits money to the counties, Kenya’s economy would grow evenly.
