Relief as petrol prices drop by Ksh.4 in latest review

The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) has handed motorists a slight relief following the decrease in the price of fuel in the latest review announced on Friday.

The price of Kerosene has dropped by Ksh.6.61, Super Petrol by Ksh.4.57 while the price of diesel dropped marginally by .55 cents per litre.

In a statement, ERC says the changes are as a result of average landed cost of refined petroleum products.

Following the adjustments, a litre of petrol will retail at Ksh.113.54 in Nairobi while that of diesel will cost Ksh.112.28 and Ksh.105.22 for every litre of Kerosene bought.

The new fuel prices will be in effect from midnight to January 14 next year.

Fuel prices cost higher the further you move away from the discharge terminals in Mombasa.

In Mandera, the farthest town from Mombasa, a litre of petrol will cost Ksh.126.40 while kerosene will retail at Ksh.118.07.

In Mombasa, super petrol will retail at Ksh.110.91 per litre, diesel at Ksh.109.66 per litre while Kerosene will retail at Ksh.102.59 per litre.

The new prices are inclusive of Value Added Tax charged at eight percent, in line with the provisions of the Finance Act which came into effect in September.
