Relief For Commuters As Bus Fares Drop

Matatu Owners Association (MOA) Chairman Simon Kimutai says that the reduction will be effected by respective Matatu Saccos.

"We have agreed to reduce bus fares across the country. This will be effected by the respective Matatu Saccos," said Kimutai.

"However, we cannot determine the rate at which every Sacco must reduce their fares with. It is upon these Saccos to make fair reductions putting the intererst of the commuters first."

Kimutai has, however, accused the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) of not reducing fuel prices locally to match the drop in international prices.

Over the last two months ERC has reduced the prices of petrol by at least 18 shillings per liter.
