Religious Leaders Oppose Condoms In Schools

Led by North Rift Full gospel Churches Bishop, Dr. Eli Rop, the leaders said that the introduction of contraceptives and condoms in schools will be opening doors to sexual immorality.

The Bill, to be introduced in the Senate this week by nominated Senator Judith Sijeny, has already received sharp criticism and opposition from educationists.

If the proposed Bill is passed children as young as 10 years will be provided with condoms and birth control pills.

Earlier this week, Kenya Union of Post-Primary Teachers (KUPPET) had criticized the bill arguing that the move will jeopardize the critical role of education.

Rop added that religious leaders in the region will not support the bill as it goes against biblical teachings.

They are calling for the withdrawal of the bill and instead promote abstinence in schools.

Rop was speaking at Tinderet constituency during a prize giving day at Kapsigilai girl’s high school
