Relocation of PSVs from Nairobi CBD postponed to end of January

Relocation of public service vehicles from the Nairobi Central Business District continues to drag.

Sources indicated that the delay of the ambitious plan has been delayed by lack of funds to complete the construction of the new bus terminals.

The Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) has now placed an end of January 2021 time frame to relocate PSV’s from the CBD to Green Park Terminus located at the Railway Club as well as Desai and Park Road.

The relocation was expected to take place in December last year but was postponed to early January 2021.

The green park terminus, which is meant to accommodate at least 110 matatus, is almost complete, with the NMS finalising the facilities within the area.

Another terminus at the junction of Bunyala and Workshop Roads is under construction and will serve PSVs plying Mombasa Road.

PSVs from the Mt Kenya region that originally terminated at Tea Room, Accra Road in the CBD, will now move to the new Desai and Park Road termini.

The Muthurwa terminus is expected to remain as it serves PSV from Jogoo and Lusaka roads.
