Robert Cullens Murimi, a renowned tour operator, was reportedly killed by a stray elephant in Maralal.
According to a police report seen by Citizen Digital, the 50-year-old man was on a tour of Nkoteiya Conservancy when the elephant attacked.
Murimi had been in the company of three Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) rangers and his business partner: a Spaniard identified as Jordin.
The report that was filed by a senior warden from the KWS Maralal station said Jordin and the rangers managed to flee to safety but Murimi was not so lucky.
Preliminary reports indicate that his body had multiple injuries although it is yet to be established whether they were consistent with an animal attack.
The body was later flown to Nairobi onboard a helicopter.
