Report Missing Children, Urge North Eastern Leaders

The leaders said this in a strategy meeting aimed at tackling the terror menace in the region.

The leaders, who vowed to deal with radicalization and infiltration of their societies by members of the Al-Shabaab terror group, asked area administrators to implement the ‘Nyumba Kumi’ initiative as a way to combat terror.

The meeting was held on Sunday in Wajir County and comprised Muslim religious leaders, administrators as well as elected leaders.

They also imposed on chiefs to identify terror sympathizers.

Also in attendance was Wajir County Governor Ahmed Abdullahi who promised the leaders that they will use all means to combat terrorism.

“You must not wait for the government to fight Al-Shabaab, they are taking our culture and our religion.” Ahmed said.

Questions have been raised about the handling of intelligence information given to the police after reports emerged that Abdullahi Daqare, a government chief in Mandera and father to Abdirahim Abdullahi, one of the Garissa attackers had reported to the police about his missing son.

The leaders will on Monday hold a strategic meeting with the Christian leaders in the area.
