Report Proposes Free Secondary School Education

The report was handed over to President Uhuru Kenyatta today.

The report by the task force also recommends that development partners and counties complement state funds to achieve free day secondary school education.

President Kenyatta said that the proposals should be implemented to ensure provision of equitable and quality education.

The President said that all stakeholders will be involved before implementation of the proposal.

The report also recommends controlled expansion of existing secondary schools, suspension of registration of new public schools and proper regulation of existing schools.

The task force had earlier asked the government to make secondary education free for all children starting from 2015.

It said that the realisation of this goal is possible by 2015 if a raft of progressive recommendations it has listed are adopted.
