Republicans Win Big In Mid-Term Elections
This has increased their power in the final years of President Barack Obama's presidency.
The party won Arkansas, Montana, South Dakota, West Virginia, Colorado, North Carolina.
Following the mid term elections, Mitch McConnell will now become the Senate Majority Leader.
The party is also set to increase its majority in the lower House of Representatives.
This now means that Republicans control both Congress and Senate
Following the vote, the Republicans now have the power to shut down Obama's policies in the last two years of his term.
For the past one year, political gridlock in Congress had reached historical levels.
Analysts say the win could make the situation even worse before the 2016 presidential elections
