Residents elated as Juja becomes a district

Juja residents will start accessing government services in a faster and more effective manner now that the region has been made a district.

Residents will no longer have to travel to Thika and Ruiru to access government facilities – a change that has been met by positive feedback.

Speaking during the induction of the new Juja, Deputy County Commissioner Wambua Muthama and Kiambu County Commissioner Alex Nikoyo said phase two of the fight against illicit brew will be easily dealt with in the area, following the induction of the new district.

Muthama has promised Juja residents that illicit brews will be totally wiped out, adding that he will not tolerate any excuse from chiefs.

In February, Igembe Central was gazetted as a sub county and it received a new Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) Jacob Otieno.

Igembe Central was carved out of Igembe South before the 2013 general elections.

Speaking during the ceremony at Kangeta in Igembe Central Headquarters, Meru County Commissioner Wilfred Nyagwanga urged the new Deputy County Commissioner to fight illicit brew.

Nyagwanga told area chiefs that many lives have been lost through illicit brews; he warned that they would be sacked if any illicit brew was found in their locations.

The Meru County Commissioner also urged Otieno to help fight cattle rustling, which is rampant in the region.
