Residents of Kericho have spoken, Senator-elect Cheruiyot says

Aaron Cheruiyot has acclaimed the people of Kericho for electing him Senator in the just concluded by-election.

Speaking to Citizen TV’s Francis Gachuri on Monday, Cheruiyot said that a lot of effort had gone into the campaigns noting that the results reflected the voice of the people of Kericho.

“By overwhelmingly voting for me, the people of Kericho have expressed their faith in me and their support for Jubilee,” said Cheruiyot.

He further dispelled claims of rigging raised by Kanu officials saying the people who have been caught in the malpractice all belong to Kanu.

The Jubilee candidate won the by-election with 109,358 votes against his closest challenger Paul Sang of Kanu who got 56,307 votes. Daniel Tonui of NVP was third with 772 votes.

The win makes Cheruiyot, 31, only the second Senator for Kericho, taking over from Charles Keter who was appointed Energy Cabinet Secretary in December last year.
