Alarm over shortage of medicine in Transmara hospitals

Residents of Transmara East, Narok County, are now pleading with the county government to address the alarming shortage of medicinal drugs in health facilities in the area.

According to the residents, doctors have been referring them to chemists after treating them saying that the hospitals lack medicine. They are lamenting that the drugs at the chemists are usually expensive and they cannot afford them.

“When we went to the hospital the doctor told us that there are no drugs and prescribed for us to buy them instead,” one of the residents complained.

They are urging the county government to intervene swiftly to save the situation that is proving difficult for them to receive health services.

“We don’t have any medicines in the county hospitals for three months now, the governor should respond and solve the issue, we are suffering,” a resident from Mogoiwet village explained.
