Residents protest ‘impassable’ bridge

Residents of Kabazi and Subukia have protested poor state of Kabazi bridge along Nakuru-Nyahururu road after the bridge was rendered impassable during rainy season due to poor workmanship.

Culverts constructed by Nyoro Construction Company last year have since blocked the natural flow of river Kabazi.

Daniel Njenga, a resident of Kabazi, said that the bridge poses great danger to motorists as part of the bridge has developed cracks adding that the bridge is a ticking-time bomb considering that heavy trucks transporting logs from Bahati forest use the bridge daily.

He warned that school going children are also not safe.

He called on the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure to revoke the contract awarded to Nyoro Construction Company saying that it has taken the contractor too long to complete the work.
