‘Respect Moi, he made you!’ Kalonzo tells DP Ruto over hustler vs dynasty politics
Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has hit out at Deputy President William Ruto over his ‘hustler vs dynasty’ brand of politics saying it is a disrespect to the late Mzee Daniel Moi under whose tutelage he managed to rise to the position he occupies today.
Kalonzo, speaking at a remembrance service in Kabarak to mark one year since the late retired president passed on, nudged DP Ruto – who did not attend the ceremony – to cease from his politics of class in honor of Moi who mentored him.
“Mimi ningekuwa ndugu yangu William Ruto ningemheshimu sana rais Moi because he made you who you are today, lazima tuseme ukweli huu,” said Kalonzo.
“Kwa sasa anashambulia anasema kwamba familia ya Moi ni dynasty, wewe (Ruto) ulikuwa huko ndani, in fact you were more of a son (to Moi) than Gideon, if I remember. That is the truth.”
The former Vice President also accused Ruto of allegedly radicalizing the youth to violence, citing a recent incident where one of his allies – South Mugirango MP Silvanus Osoro – attacked a fellow leader – Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati – at a funeral.
“You cannot afford to antagonize your people and create class wars and radicalize the youth. Yaani unaradicalize wengine kiasi kwamba kijana kama Osoro, mheshimiwa amechaguliwa na kura, anatoka kwa matanga anashambulia mwenzake akiwa kwa jukwaa na hapo kuna jeneza,” he said.
“Muundo upi huo wa kiasiasa? Unaradizalize mpaka Member of Parliament. Mambo ya ajabu hayo. Tuwache mambo ya kuradicalize each other, tukumbuke kwamba sisi ni waafrika.”
Kalonzo further apologised to President Uhuru Kenyatta for the insults spewed at him by his fellow clansman and former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko, vowing to take him under his wings.
“Akaja huyu kijana wetu, na hapa mheshimiwa rais naomba unisikilize, kijana yetu anaitwa Mike Mbuvi Sonko; kijana kutoka huko mahali mimi nimezaliwa, nakuomba uniachie huyo kijana. Kwa niaba yake, tunaomba msamaha,” he stated.
“Akimaliza these episodes, we will yet mentor him. But you have shown great heart, kwa hivo usiyashikilie haya maneno, because we have to build this nation. We will mentor him.”
Kalonzo also promised to work with Baringo Senator Gideon Moi due to the love, courtesy and respect his late father, Mzee Moi, extended to him under his government.
