Retired Judge Effie Owuor testifies in case on son’s attack

Retired Judge Effie Owuor testified before a Kisumu court on Wednesday in the case where her son Paul escaped death narrowly three years ago.

In 2018, attackers invaded their farm in Chemelil, Muhoroni and their farm manager Paul Benjo was killed.

The retired judge told Kisumu Chief Magistrate Peter Gesora how they struggled to keep Paul alive.

The son also told the court how the attackers almost killed him after he suffered deep cuts in the stomach and his hand.

He explained that his gun failed to work as he attempted to rescue the farm manager.

Asichi Abil, a tractor driver, rushed Paul to the medical facility before he was transferred to Kisumu for specialised treatment.

Two suspects Isaac Kiptoo alias Malakwen and Julius Kipyego have been charged with attempted murder of Paul Owuor and they are out on bail.

The hearing of the case will continue on April 20, 2021.
