Return stolen Nandi County funds, Senator Sang tells Governor Lagat

Senator Stephen Sang on Sunday told Nandi County Governor Dr Cleophas Lagat to return all the cash that has been stolen from the county since he took office in 2013.

The Nandi Senator accused Lagat’s county government of skimming millions from the county coffers – money that was meant development.

Sang also blamed the Governor of spending county cash on dubious projects, adding that many of the county-led initiatives were unrealistic and wasteful.

Citing Ksh17 million that was allegedly spent for an evening function, Sang accused the bounty leadership of having misplaced priorities.

“How can you spend over Ksh17 million for dance and over Ksh40 million to construct a billboard yet the county has no drugs, insufficient bursaries and no ECDS?” posed the Sang.

The Senator went on to call on the people of Nandi County to hold their leaders to account, saying that they should take a stand against graft t in the county. He added that, as a leader, he will play his part in battling the vice.
