Return stolen NYS funds- KUPPET chair

Kenya Union of Post primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) Chairman Omboko Milemba, has asked those implicated in the National Youth Service (NYS) scandal to return the looted funds.

Speaking in Busia County during the union’s branch elections, Milemba said the looted funds, if recovered, should be used to improve the welfare of teachers and ensure that their 50-60 percent salary increase deal is implemented.

He further warned that if they fail to do so, teachers across the country might be forced to vote out the Jubilee government in next year’s General Election.

The unfolding drama surrounding the multi-million shilling looting of the National Youth Service has continued to captivate Kenyans with civil societies asking President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto to lead from the front in unraveling the theft of hundreds of millions of shillings at National Youth Service (NYS).

On Tuesday, former Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru sensationally linked Deputy President William Ruto and his close associates to the scam.

In an affidavit filed in court, Waiguru claimed she had been informed by the then acting Senior Deputy Director general of NYS, Adan Harakhe, of a claim by one of the suspects, Ben Gethi, that the illegal payments totaling over Ksh800 million were for companies associated with finance CS Henry Rotich who was allegedly Ruto’s point man.

Waiguru also linked close associates of the DP including his personal assistant Farouk Kibet, Senator Kipchumba Murkomen and Leader of Majority in Parliament Aden Duale to the saga.

Murkomen and Duale have since denied the allegations.
