Rev. Godia elected new Bishop of ACK Maseno West Diocese

Reverend John Mark Godia is the Bishop-elect for the Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) Maseno West Diocese.

Rev. Godia, who has served as the Diocesan Administrator for the last ten years, was declared the winner in an election conducted at the ACK St. Peter’s Cathedral in Siaya town.

Speaking after he was declared the winner, Rev. Godia expressed his gratitude to God, the Maseno West fraternity and his competitors.

“Some of the divisions that might have been there are just perceived differences. When you differ in opinion it doesn’t mean it’s a sharp division and what we will do is remain open, reach out to them in brotherly love and give them opportunities to also serve within the diocese,” he said on Saturday after he was declared winner.

Rev. Godia further urged the Maseno West diocese to embrace peace and unity during the entire period of transition.

He assured them that in his new capacity as Bishop he will serve with humility and continue to seek God’s guidance and intervention to propel the diocese to the next level.

Rev. Godia had vied against Canon Francis Omondi and Prof. James Kombo in the Saturday elections.

He will take over from the outgoing Bishop Rev. Dr. Joseph Otieno Wasonga whose retirement is due in September this year.

The Bishop-elect will be consecrated on September 1, 2019 ahead of Bishop Joseph Otieno Wasonga’s official retirement on September 21 when he (Rev. Godia)will officially take office.
