Revenue, Port officials charged over containers release

Eight people, including two Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) and two Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) officials, have been charged in a Mombasa Court for fraudulently releasing three containers at the Port of Mombasa leading to a revenue loss of Ksh 9 million.

The eight are accused of committing the offence between the 21st and 23rd of June 2016 at the Port of Mombasa.

The eight, who appeared before Magistrate Douglas Ogoti, however, denied the charges and were released on cash bail of 100,000 shillings each or a bond of 300,000 shillings each.
