Richard Muema, man who was shot 8 times, leaves hospital after 3 months
Richard Muema, the man who was shot a staggering eight times during a robbery in Kasarani, Nairobi, has finally been released from Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) where he was undergoing treatment.
Speaking to Citizen Digital on Wednesday, the 32-year-old expressed gratitude to the multitude of well wishers who helped offset his hospital bill.
“The total bill came to Ksh.1.2 million which was catered for by the money the public contributed through an M-Pesa Paybill number established by my family,” said Mr. Muema.
He further stated that he would continue recuperating at home, after undergoing various surgeries at KNH where the bullets were successfully removed.
Muema was shot in November last year when two armed men stormed a retail shop in Nairobi’s Kasarani area.
In a CCTV footage which went viral, he was ordered to lie down by the robbers and he complied, after which the gunmen shifted their attention to the shopkeeper.
Minutes later, he got up and launched an offensive against one of the gunmen and the plan backfired resulting in him being shot multiple times.
The gunman opened fire and continuously shot at him as he ran out of the shop. The CCTV video went viral shocking many who termed his survival a miracle.
