Roads get Ksh 500M boost in Trans-Nzoia County

Roads infrastructure and farming activities in Trans-Nzoia County received a major boast after Governor Patrick Khaemba commissioned construction machines and equipment worth Ksh.500 million.

Governor Khaemba and Senator Henry Ole Ndiema flagged off 10 graders, 5 wheel loaders, 2 executors, 5 deeper Lorries, 5 rollers and a water booster in a colourful ceremony that took place on Saturday.

Khaemba said the equipment, procured from the Shantui Company from China, will boost efficiency and reduce the cost of infrastructure development. To effectively manage the use of the newly acquired equipment, the governor announced that he will establish a special committee to oversee development in the county.

He disclosed that the equipment will be distributed to the local 5 sub-counties to give residents the opportunity to prioritize its proper usage.

He urged the residents to be vigilant about the usage of the equipment and report any mismanagement to his administration.

The Governor said the procurement of the equipment will save the county from huge bill of hiring contractors and warmed of misuse of the equipment.

Khaemba said his administration has prioritized improvement and quality assurance of all roads, adding that 2953km new unclassified roads have been opened up so far.
