Robbery with violence suspects in Kwale Court

Five robbery with violence suspects who were arrested Tuesday evening at Kabingoi Forest in Kinango, Kwale County were Thursday afternoon arraigned in a Kwale Court.

Appearing before Kwale Chief Magistrate, Doreen Mulecho, the five; Mwamba Kassim Kupha, Salim Kassim Nyawa, Ali Suleiman Omar, Said Nyawa Chikuta, and Hamisi Mwahuyi Nyamawi were accused of robbery with violence.

An affidavit sworn by the officer investigating the matter, Charles Mureithi, stated that during the robbery, the accused killed one Beja Nyota before robbing him of his motorcycle, registration number KMDW 369F.

The suspects, however, did not take plea as the prosecution, in consultation with the Director of Public Prosecutions, asked for more time to complete investigations against the suspects before pressing charges.

The magistrate granted the prosecution’s request and ordered the suspects to be detained at Kwale Police Station for ten days as investigations continue.

The case will be mentioned on 7th July, 2016.
