Rongai Boys dormitory razed down

A dormitory block was on Tuesday night destroyed by fire at Rongai Boys Agritech School in Rongai Constituency, Nakuru County.

Confirming the incident, Rongai OCPD Joseph Mwamburi said on phone that no one was injured during the 8.30pm fire suspected to have been caused by an electric t fault.

According to Mwamburi, property of an unknown value was destroyed and it took combined efforts between students and neighbors to put out the fire.

Rongai Boys becomes the third school in the constituency to have a fire incident after Kirobon Boys and Kirobon Girls Secondary School.

In Nakuru County, more than six schools have had fire incidents since the beginning of the month of June.

The incident also comes a fortnight after the government promised to carry out comprehensive investigations and issue a report on fire incidents in various schools countrywide.

Njoro MP Joseph Kiuna has however accused the ministry of education of not releasing reports after carrying out inspection of schools when incidents of fire occur.
