Rongo University suspends learning in two campuses

Rongo University College has suspended learning activities at the Awendo Town and Rongo Town campuses to conform with the requirements of the Commission for University Education (CUE) ahead of the October 7, 2016 chatter awarding.

Students at the two colleges have since been moved to main campus.

Speaking to Radio Ramogi on Wednesday, September 28, the Director of Privately Sponsored Students at the university, Prof John Olouch, said suspending learning services at the university branches is a tactful approach to enable them get the chatter.

Prof Oluoch said a constituent university college like Rongo is not allowed to establish branches before becoming a fully-fledged university adding that by suspending services at the branches does not amount to closure.

He added that the university will now have the power to establish more branches after receiving chatter on October 7 at State House, Nairobi.

Rongo University, which is a constituent college of Moi University, is among universities set to receive chatters and become independent.
