Ruaka police capture robbery suspects caught on camera

Police in Kiambu County are holding five robbery with violence suspects.

The five were caught on CCTV cameras in Ruaka area stealing household goods in December last year.

This comes after a section of residents in Ruaka town complained of increased insecurity in the area.

Speaking on Sunday, the residents complained over alleged rise in criminal activities and the existence of a gang that has terrorized them. They claimed that muggings and break-in cases have risen since the beginning of the year.

“We are appealing to the Kiambu County Government to address the issue of security and deal with criminal gangs causing as sleepless nights,” said Marion Wanjiru, a businesswoman within the area.

Nahashon Kamau, a student at a private university in the area, said insecurity is becoming a problem.

“It is serious and we want the Government to intervene and arrest the culprits involved, many of us students are no longer feeling safe,” he said.

County Commissioner Alex Nkoyo has asked law enforcers not to entertain criminals.

Nkoyo directed the police to fight criminals ruthlessly and guarantee law and order in their respective areas.

Wednesday morning, Kiambu County Commander James Mugera called upon members of the public who may have lost their wares in the recent burglary incidents to report the matter to the authorities immediately so that they may recover them.

He added that investigations were at advanced stage to pursue more suspects who will be arraigned before a court of law.
