Run like you stole NYS money: Hilarious placards at StanChart marathon

A host of Kenyans and a few foreign nationals on Sunday took to the streets and stole the show with their placards bearing hilarious wordings during the Standard Chartered marathon.

The group was mainly photographed outside Uhuru Park and on the GPO roundabout holding up the placards.

Inscribed on them were creatively selected albeit hilarious words, most of them reflecting real events that have been witnessed in the country in recent years.

The wordings were presumably meant to serve the purpose of motivating the runners participating in the Standard Chartered marathon to keep up the pace or speed up.

‘Kip Going, Kip Going’, read one of the placards held up high by a woman in dark spectacles, most certainly referencing – and urging the participants to emulate – world marathon champion Eliud Kipchoge’s heroics on the tracks.

‘Run like you stole NYS money,’ read yet another, seemingly referring to the scandals that have rocked the National Youth Service (NYS) and how most of the ‘big fish’ involved have strangely always managed to ‘run away’ from justice.

Some of the other wordings included; ‘You’re hot when you sweat,’ ‘Smile if you farted’, ‘ Parte After Parte, After Parte, After Parte’, ‘Nikikohoa Unaitika, Lubbish’, and ‘Free Beer & Sex at Finish.’
