Ruto allies declare war as Jubilee kicks out party officials affiliated to the DP

The Jubilee party has officially published changes to its top organ-the National Management Committee (NMC) through an advert on the dailies by its Secretary General Raphael Tuju.

Tuju published the changes to the party on an advert on the Daily Nation as required by the party’s constitution.

The advert noted that five people who had been in a gazette notice had been formally appointed to sit on the party’s National Management Committee.

The five include; James Waweru, Lucy Nyaguthii Macharia, Prof Marete Marangu, Walter Nyambati and Jane Nampato.

The changes to the party’s top organ come amid protests from the Ruto-allied wing of Jubilee who have now threatened a political duel of untold proportions.

In a previous interview, Raphael Tuju had dismissed claims by Deputy President William Ruto that there was an attempt to institute illegal changes to the party’s leadership.

Tuju said the new names were picked way before the coronavirus outbreak and were necessitated by the departure of some party officials at different times in the last one year.

“The much-talked about additions were made long before the coronavirus menace visited us. What was filed by the Party last month to comply with March 31st deadline were normal yearly returns that are required by law in terms of changes of office bearers, signatories to the accounts and any other material issues that the register may require by law,” said Tuju.

“As stated in some media interviews these were additions necessitated by the departure of some of officials at different times in the last one year apart from one instance where two officials were from one county. Another addition was of the current Executive Director who replaced the previous official who became a Chief Administrative Secretary.”

In the statement Tuju further called out a section of Jubilee leaders for taking to social media to lament over the changes.

The new changes have been seen as a plan to weaken DP Ruto’s grip on the ruling party with claims that his men were being pushed out of NMC.

Ruto allies among them Moses Kuria have now threatened war terming the new changes fraudulent.

Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa during an interview with the Daily Nation said the Ruto-allies will be moving court to challenge the changes and also seek to have Tuju vacate office.
