Ruto challenges Kenyans to help secure the country

By DPPS, Uasin Gishu

Deputy President William Ruto has called on Kenyans to join forces with security officers in securing the country.

The Deputy President said Kenyans should learn from the Mandera bus attack where Muslims shielded Christians from terrorists saying that everyone has a role to play in securing the country.

“As we saw the other day Muslims protecting Christians from terrorists, it means we all have a role to play in ensuring our neighbors are safe and the country is secure,” he said.

He said security officers are on high alert and determined to ensure the country is safe.

The Deputy President said the government has equipped security forces to fight crime citing Uasin Gishu County that now has 58 police vehicles.

Ruto spoke at the African Church of Kenya (ACK) St. Joseph Kipkaren, Uasin Gishu County where he attended a church service.

He prayed for God’s blessings for Kenya to achieve its plans aimed at moving the country forward for the benefit of all Kenyans.

The Deputy President called on Kenyan politicians to focus on uniting Kenyans and shun divisive politics.

He dismissed the formation of tribal based political parties and advocated for national political parties that would unite Kenyans.

“Politics of division belong to the past. Modern politics is that which unites the people.”

Ruto said the Jubilee administration is committed to transforming the economies of rural areas in the country.

He told the people of Uasin Gishu County that the government will provide them with 50 milk coolers to boost dairy farming in the region and appealed to farmers to embrace modern dairy farming technology, a move aimed at adding value to their products.

Governor Jackson Mandago, who was in attendance, said the people of Uasin Gishu County support the Jubilee administration because of their development agenda.

“We have no reason to doubt that this county will move forward under the leadership of President Uhuru Kenyatta and the Deputy President,” said Mandago.
